Is your website losing you customers from ChatGPT? I checked 61 in Tacoma.
When you ask ChatGPT to find a plumber in Tacoma, it answers with names. I wanted to know what it has to go on when it picks them. So on October 5, 2026 I ran 61 local home service websites through our website check. These were plumbers, roofers, HVAC, electricians, garage door companies, house cleaners, landscapers and pest control in Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, University Place and Gig Harbor.
Our check reads a website the way a simple crawler does. It doesn't ask ChatGPT anything, so this isn't a list of who gets recommended. It shows what's on the page for an assistant to read. A few sites build their pages with scripts, and those look emptier to the check than they do in a browser.
What I found
55 of the 61 sites never say you can call or text. That's 90%.
85% don't say how long they've been working in their town. The check only counted it when the town was named in the same sentence, so a years line on its own didn't pass.
66% don't show an email address in the homepage text.
44% list more than one phone number across their pages. Some of that is a second office or a fax line. An old number left on one page can still end up in an answer, though.
36% have no business details block. It's a few lines of code that tell search engines your name, phone, hours and service area. I don't know how much ChatGPT reads it directly. It's cheap to add anyway.
18% have no way to book or send a message from the site.
The basics were mostly fine. 92% had a phone number in the text and 98% had a page title and description.
What I'd fix first
Put one sentence near the top of your homepage with your town, the year you started, and a note that people can call or text you. That one sentence handles the two biggest gaps.
Pick one phone number and change every page and listing to match it.
Put your email address in the page text. A contact form by itself keeps it hidden from anything that reads the page.
Ask whoever built your site to add the business details block. Many site builders have a setting or plugin for it.
Check that someone can book or send you a request without calling.
See what ChatGPT says about you
The free AI check asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok the question a customer would ask for your trade in your town. Then it shows you who they named and what to fix on your site. It's free and you don't need an account.

If you want us to keep watching it for you, Known Around Town is $99 a month plus tax after a 14-day free trial. You don't need a card to start. The first 10 businesses keep that price for as long as they stay subscribed. It includes the weekly check, a fix list for your site and listings, post drafts in your own words, and a booking page AI assistants can read.
